Three things decide whether you like this floor in five years

Not the colorway. Everyone gets that part right. What separates a luxury vinyl plank floor that still looks good from one that gaps, cups or lifts is the stuff nobody puts in the brochure.

01

What’s under it

A slab that isn’t flat telegraphs through the plank and opens seams. Prep is the least visible line on a quote and the first one a cheap bid removes.

02

The wear layer

Thickness sells; wear layer is what actually survives a dog and a dining chair. We spec it against your traffic instead of the price point.

03

Who does the finish work

Transitions, thresholds and trim are where a job goes from fitted to obviously DIY. One crew doing all of it is the whole reason it lines up.

Three ways we lay LVP

Same product, three different jobs. Most houses are the first one. Which of these you need is the thing that moves a quote, more than the colorway ever does.

Straight lay

The standard run through living space

Planks running the length of the room in staggered rows, which is what most of a house gets. It reads calm and it makes a space look longer, so it is the default through living areas, bedrooms and hallways. The work that decides how it turns out is not the laying, it is the slab underneath it and the direction we start from. We set the run against the longest sightline and the main light source, not against whichever wall is closest to the door.

Herringbone

Pattern work for entries and feature rooms

Planks cut and set at 45 degrees into a repeating V. It is the same product as a straight lay and a different job entirely: every plank is a cut, the pattern has to be set out from a true centre line before anything goes down, and an error at the start compounds across the room. Worth it in an entry, a dining room or anywhere the floor is meant to be the thing you notice. We will tell you honestly whether your room is square enough for it.

Stairs and landings

Treads, risers and the nosing

Stairs are quoted on their own because they are their own trade. Each tread is cut to the individual step, the riser is faced, and the nosing at the front edge has to be wrapped so the plank does not chip or lift where every foot lands. Getting the floor and the stairs to match in tone is the part people forget, and it is much easier when the same crew does both at the same time from the same batch.

Pick a floor, not a swatch

Real luxury vinyl plank installs in Katy and Houston homes, and the styles we put down. Screens lie about wood tone, so the samples come to your house and you see them in your own light before you commit.

Five steps. You’ll know where we are on each one.

Same crew handles your LVP install the whole way through. No handoff to a subcontractor halfway, and no phase where nobody can tell you what's happening.

01

Free walkthrough

We measure, check the subfloor for moisture and flatness, and bring sample boards so you can see colorways in your own light against your own furniture.

02

Demo and subfloor prep

Old flooring out, slab ground and levelled, moisture addressed before a single plank goes down. This step matters more here than in most markets because Houston homes are slab-on-grade, not basement construction.

03

Underlayment and install

The right underlayment for sound and moisture, then the floor itself, click-lock or glue-down depending on the product and what the slab is doing.

04

Transitions and trim

Transition strips, baseboards and moldings at every doorway and room edge. This is the finish work that decides whether it looks installed or looks fitted.

05

Final walkthrough

We walk it with you, cover how to care for it, and leave the space clean. Furniture goes back where it came from.

LVP, laminate or wood

We only install one of these three, so read this knowing that. It is still the comparison worth having, and the two rows LVP loses are in the table.

Which of the three is right depends on the room, the traffic and what your slab is doing. We spec it at the walkthrough against your house, not against what we have most of in the truck. If LVP is the wrong answer for a room, we’ll say so.

What people ask before booking

Straight answers, including the parts that don’t flatter the product. If something isn’t here, ask it in the form.

Quality LVP is waterproof at the plank. It won't swell, warp or buckle from moisture the way laminate or engineered wood will, which is why it's the sensible pick for kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms and any Houston home that has taken on water before. The plank being waterproof is only half of it though. Sealed transitions and the right underlayment are what keep water from getting under the floor in the first place.
Most jobs run one to two days depending on square footage, subfloor condition and how many rooms and doorways are involved. There's no sanding, staining or cure time, so you're walking on it the same day it goes down. We'll give you a real timeline at the walkthrough, not a range.
Often, yes. LVP goes over tile, concrete, vinyl and some other hard surfaces as long as the subfloor is flat and sound. We'll tell you at the walkthrough whether demo is needed. If it is, that's in the written scope with a price next to it.
Laminate has a wood-fiber core that swells when it gets wet. LVP doesn't. LVP is also more forgiving underfoot and typically holds up better to pets and heavy traffic. Laminate can be cheaper up front, which matters, but in a flood-prone city that's a bet on it never getting wet.
Depends on the product. Some LVP comes with it pre-attached. If it doesn't, we lay separate underlayment for sound, cushion and moisture protection. On a slab in Houston, the moisture layer is the part that matters, and we'll spec it around what we find when we check the slab.
Transition strips and moldings wherever LVP meets a different surface, changes height or runs into a doorway. It sounds like a detail. It's the thing that separates a professional install from a weekend job, and it's where cheap quotes quietly leave money out.
Modern LVP uses high-definition printing and embossed texture that follows the grain. From across a room, most people can't tell. Up close you can, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. What you're trading is a small amount of realism for a floor that survives a dishwasher leak.
Yes. Demo and disposal of carpet, tile, vinyl or old laminate is part of the scope, and so is moving your furniture and putting it back.
